Increasingly, people are looking at retirement as another phase of life, perhaps approaching it with a sense of freedom or renewed purpose. It may be that, finally, your time is now a commodity you control, the problem being how you decide to use it. Financial planning is important, life doesn’t get any cheaper. You will want to get your assets in order and to make sure you’re money is working for you. You will want to ensure any succession planning is taken care of, creating a Will, for example. Many people choose to move into retirement villages, which are becoming increasingly popular developments. Although many will want to stay in their own home, the prospect of being in quality surroundings with people of the same age, and facilities that wouldn’t look out of place in a luxury hotel complex, is surely tempting. Staying active and maintaining social ties, making new friends and sharing interests are all important.
