We last visited The Bell around a year ago and wouldn’t normally return to review the food after such a short time but there has been a complete change of staff in the kitchen and, therefore, Tom (Wiltshire Life’s photographer) and I found ourselves once again heading to Ramsbury.

Oli the chef is a breath of fresh air and he has created some wonderful new dishes at The Bell. He has also built a good team and on meeting him it is clear that he is not from the school of loud, flamboyant kitchen dragons. He is calm and enthusiastic about his team and the food they produce – the proof of this cooking is definitely in the eating.

The Bell is well worth a visit. It is always a good idea to book in advance for the restaurant, although there are several dining options available, with tables in the bar, which is dog-friendly and with tables available on a first-come, first-served basis. There are also tables in the gardens for fair weather days.

The pub is home to Cafe Bella, which opens for breakfast (ideal following a hearty walk around the stunning, surrounding countryside), while the cafe, also serves light lunches and afternoon tea. So, take a drive across the glorious Wiltshire countryside and enjoy some of the delicious food this 300-year-old coaching inn has to offer.
