On Saturday, 5th October, Savernake Forest will be the scene of the biggest ever survey of England’s forest wildlife.

The Big Forest Find is a nationwide event that encourage volunteers and visitors to ‘embarkon a journey of discovery through England’s wooded landscapes’ to record birds, butterflies, insects and plant life that inhabit the forest floor. The information recorded will paint a better picture of England’s forest biodiversity and will be added to by future events, helping Forestry England to enhance its forests for wildlife for generations to come.

The Savernake event will be a day of free interactive walks and talks, from bird ringing and bat walks to fungal forays and veteran tree talks. Participants will get an insight into the diverse habitat of Savernake Forest while contributing to the biggest ever survey of England’s forest wild life.
