Statement by the Leader of the Council, Cllr Jeremy Nettle

"As we approach the anniversary of the Nerve agent incident last March we should think of not only of the individuals that were directly affected, but also the families, emergency services, businesses and residents (especially those in Christie Miller Road) and the huge impact of those events.

"Looking back we have a lot to be thankful for, our Police, Ambulance crews, Salisbury NHS Trust, Public Health England, Porton Down and Wiltshire Council have all responded with speed and professionalism.

"What I have been most impressed with is the way that everyone has drawn together to ensure that there is a sustainable recovery programme for Salisbury.

"Businesses, agencies, charities, Wiltshire Council and Salisbury City Council are actively working together to maximise opportunities to develop and revitalise our city and its environs enabling the City Council to provide the best quality services to our residents and visitors as Salisbury prospers and thrives.

"On behalf of the Salisbury City Council I would like to personally thank all those that have been involved in not only the recovery process but also supporting local residents and businesses and I look forward to an exciting future for our city."
